The American College of Radiology (ACR) recommends annual mammography screening starting at age 40 for women of average risk of developing breast cancer. Screening is used to identify breast changes in women who present no noticeable abnormalities.
The Buffalo General Medical Center Breast Center offers a full array of collaborative services, and state-of-the-art care for overall breast health. This is accomplished by a comprehensive, multidisciplinary breast care team from initial screenings and diagnosis to innovative treatment. We realize that each person is unique, so our staff approach ensures that you will receive the care that is best for you. The entire spectrum of clinical and support services are offered. Our one-stop mammography center offers patients results while they wait.
Our dedicated team will guide patients through every step of the process answering all questions. Services offered include screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, needle localization and stereotactic breast biopsy. We are ACR Accredited, FDA and MQSA Certified.
BGMC/GVI offers the latest technology, the 3D Genius Platinum Program, which includes specialized breast cancer screening using tomosynthesis in combination with digital mammography. Compared to 2D exams, the 3D Genius technology increases sensitivity for invasive breast cancer detection while reducing radiation exposure and unnecessary duplicative imaging. The results of this 3D exam are more accurate to aid in the fight against breast cancer for women of all ages and breast densities.
