Au-Some Evenings
“Au-some Evenings” is an exciting new program at Explore & More Children’s Museum dedicated to children with autism spectrum disorders and their friends and families.
The program was developed in collaboration with The Children’s Guild Foundation Autism Spectrum Disorder Center at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and the Center for Autism Support and Education (CASE) and is the first program of its kind in Western New York. Once a month, these special “au-some evenings” will give children with autism spectrum disorders, their friends and family an opportunity to play and learn together in an understanding and supportive environment.
Through generous support from Hodgson Russ, “au-some evenings” will be free of charge to participants.
Children will have access to the museum and Imagination Playground where they can run around and be creative with large foam objects.
Children, siblings and friends are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the visit.
To prepare for a visit, a social narrative ”My Visit to Explore & More” was created to help familiarize children with what they may see and do. A video of a virtual tour will be posted on Explore & More’s website in the near future.
This pilot program will run from 5:30pm to 8:00pm on the second Friday of every month!
