Background
The Maternal Advisory Board (MAB) purpose is to bring together a diverse group of individuals who have experienced birth or reproductive care throughout Kaleida Health. Individuals will participate with projects, conversation and education that create change for BIPOC birthing people throughout Kaleida Health. The MAB is currently seeking individuals (18+) who have given birth (or plan to give birth) at a Kaleida Health facility within the past 1-2 years.
Mission
To eliminate and educate on inequalities of maternal care among the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) community pre, peri and post-pregnancy.
Vision
To develop and implement the best, safest and post equitable care for black birthing people in New York State.
Values
The Maternal Advisory Board values integrity, accountability, and passion about the improvement of perinatal health outcomes in the community.
Members' contributions, opinions and experiences will be valued and respected. These values will ensure the ability of board members to effectively collaborate.
Board Expectations
- Attend monthly board meetings (virtually, by phone, or in-person)
- Offer recommendations to leadership.
- Share insight and information about your experience in ways others can learn from.
- Be responsive to e-mail, text, and/or meetings.
- Provide input on educational programs for staff.
