Food and Nutrition Services

Patient Meal Service

Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital is pleased to feature room service, a unique patient dining experience, similar to a hotel’s room service.

Order anytime between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., as long as food choices conform to physicians' orders, by dialing (9) 859-3663 from your hospital room. A room service operator is available to assist with meal selections and to answer any questions that may arise.

Each meal is freshly prepared, and delivered to the patient's room within 45 minutes; no more designated meal times or having to decide what to eat one or two days ahead of time!

Families can also assist with orders by calling(716) 859-3663 from anywhere outside the hospital.

Guest Trays are also available for patients and families to dine together. Guest meals can be purchased from our a la carte menu by major credit card.

Family and Visitor Services

The Café is open daily.  Choices include the day’s featured soups, salads, and entrée selections, sandwiches from the SubConnection, or freshly made personal pizzas from Pete’s Arena. “Grab and Go” selections of sandwiches and salads are available for those on the go. A variety of coffee, drinks, bottled beverages and snack items are also available.

Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday 11:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

Clinical Nutrition Services

During a hospital stay, nutrition is important in helping the body heal and recover from illness or injury. Millard Fillmore Suburban's team of registered dietitians is on site daily to take care of patients' nutritional needs. Doctors or nurses can request a consult with a dietitian if concerns about a patient's nutritional health arise. Dietitians also work with doctors and nurses to provide the best possible nutritional care for patients needing IVs or feeding tubes, for those who have a health condition that requires special diet changes, or for those needing special diet education.

Outpatient Nutrition Counseling

Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital is excited to be offering outpatient nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian. An appointment can be made once an individual has a doctor’s referral, unless no referral for coverage is required. The dietitian will assist individuals in obtaining his/her goals as they relate to their various medical conditions.

The areas of medical nutritional counseling include (but are not limited to):
  • Diabetes management
  • Weight management
  • Managing heart disease
  • Food allergies
  • Mitochondrial disease
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Celiac Disease
  • Cancer
  • Kidney disease
  • Stomach and intestinal disorders
  • Nutrition support including enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • General nutrition & family nutrition counseling

Through the integration and application of the sciences of biology, pathology and food and nutrition; dietitians are able to create strategies for optimal nutrition. Some of the strategies that a dietitian can use in managing a person's conditions include diet modification, diet education, setting goals for behavior changes and increasing physical activity, when appropriate.

Contact a registered dietitian at 568-3664 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
