Kaleida Health Leadership Appointments

To strengthen the leadership team and continue delivering high quality patient care, Jody Lomeo, president and CEO of Kaleida Health, recently announced the following changes:

E-documentation

EMR Web Button GraphicAt the beginning of May, Kaleida Health transitioned to e-documentation at all acute care sites.

All provider notes – including history and physicals; consults; progress notes; pre and post procedure notes; operative reports and discharge summaries – must be documented in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Sanford Levy, MD, physician advisor for documentation, sent numerous important e-documentation updates since the transition. Quick Reference Cards, web-based trainings and additional training resources are available in the EMR section on KaleidaScope or InfoClique.

If you have any questions or concerns with Dragon Naturally Speaking, templates, orders or anything else related to e-documentation, please call the Technology Assistance Center at 859-7777.

Preceptors Needed by September

Andrew Symons, MD, MS, director of the first year clinical practice medicine course at SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Science, is looking for physicians to serve as preceptors for first year medical students.

Students come to the preceptor’s office one afternoon every other week for six sessions in the fall semester and six sessions in the spring semester. While at the office, students practice interviewing patients in the fall and performing basic elements of the physical exam in the spring.

The skills are taught on campus in the seminar sessions, while the preceptor sessions allow students to apply these skills.

If you are interested in becoming a preceptor or know someone who may be interested, please contact Karen Devlin at 829-2602 or kadevlin@buffalo.edu.

Patient Portal

MyKaleida graphicKaleida Health implemented a new patient portal called MyKaleida on July 1, 2014. An online health management tool for patients, it provides a secure view of their lab test results, medications, immunization records and other clinical information. The convenient and secure website helps patients manage their health as well as the health of their family members.

Any patient interested in signing up should be directed to the hospital’s registration staff and will need a valid email address to receive account registration instructions.
