Kaleida Health Named Outstanding Lead Agency by Safe Kids Worldwide
Preventable injuries are the #1 killer of kids in the United States. Throughout the world, almost one million children die of an injury each year, and almost every one of these tragedies is preventable.
Safe Kids Worldwide is a nonprofit organization working to help families and communities keep kids safe from injuries. Safe Kids works with an extensive network of more than 420 coalitions in the United States and with partners in more than 30 countries to reduce traffic injuries, drownings, falls, burns, poisonings and more.
The Western New York coalition is led by Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo, a Kaleida Health facility, which provides dedicated and caring staff, operation support and other resources to assist in achieving a common goal: keeping your kids safe. Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops and sports clinics, that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.
Malachi Fisher, EMT-P, BA, coordinator of trauma injury prevention & education at WCHOB and coalition coordinator for Western New York, accepted the award on the organization's behalf.
