New State Funding Announcements
On March 4, 2016, Kaleida Health received the following news from the New York State Department of Health and the governor’s office regarding capital and grant awards:
- $20 million for the Oishei Children’s Hospital. This completes the $35 million commitment originally announced by the governor’s office at the Oishei Children’s Hospital groundbreaking in October of 2014. The first $15 million came last summer.
- $11.5 million for the fit out of the Conventus building. This is a dollar-for-dollar award for a grant that Kaleida Health submitted in 2014 to move the clinics from Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo to the medical campus.
- $57 million to Brooks and Lakeshore Memorial Hospitals. These two Southern Tier hospitals requested $60 million from New York State to help financially reposition themselves moving forward. This will allow them to affiliate with Kaleida Health and work with us to develop a vision, plan and strategy for the entire Southern Tier.
“This is a great day for the patients, staff, providers and for our community, as we secure much needed support for the Oishei Children’s Hospital and the Conventus Ambulatory Care Center," said Jody Lomeo, president and CEO of Kaleida Health. "We thank the State and Governor Cuomo for their support and partnership. Along with the generous support of our community, this will enable us to provide state-of-the-art, innovative health care for our mothers and children in the days and years to come.”
This funding is a portion of an announced $155.7 million in grant awards for 10 projects in Western New York. The awards are being made through the Capital Restructuring Financing Program and Essential Health Care Provider Support Program.
