Manning Named Medical Director of Utilization Review

Dzenita Manning, MD, was named medical director of utilization review and will lead the Physician Advisor Program.
Dr. Manning will be responsible supporting system-wide activities that involve utilization management, clinical documentation and utilization review. She will work with the medical staff regarding their decisions for the appropriate level of care of hospitalized patients and supporting documentation. In addition, she will review utilization data and participate in the claims denial process, including appeals.
Dr. Manning has served as a physician advisor for Kaleida Health since 2020, where she advises and assists the Clinical Documentation Department to ensure appropriate physician coding and documentation requirements. In addition, she works with the Utilization Review and Utilization Management teams to review medical necessity, length of stay, denials, readmissions, and utilization of resources as well as ensures patients are in the appropriate level of care.
Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Manning is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences and an academic hospitalist with UBMD Internal Medicine. She received her Doctor of Medicine from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Ohio State University in Columbus.
