Grateful Family Donates Toys and Clothes to Oishei Children’s Hospital After Daughter’s Life Was Saved
Stella, 3 years old, was found lifeless at the bottom of her family’s pool after slipping out of her parents’ sight for just a few moments. Her father acted quickly, pulling her out and performing life-saving CPR with the help of a neighbor who is a nurse practitioner. She was brought to Oishei Children's Hospital (OCH) and has since made a full recovery.
The family hosted a party for all the staff at OCH and others that helped in saving Stella’s life. At the party, OCH staff, EMS and other members of the community brought a toy to donate back to the hospital. Since Stella was rushed by ambulance to OCH, her mom said they didn’t have anything with her. Staff would come in with donated toys and it would make Stella smile and help her throughout her hospital stay. With that in mind, Stella's family wanted to pay it forward and bring other kids joy with some donated toys and clothes.
When she came to drop off the donations, Stella's mom shared, "Today helped us so much in the trauma healing process. Finding our daughter lifeless at the bottom of a pool, getting pulled up with no pulse and watching my husband and our neighbor/friend perform what seemed like endless CPR is something I will never forget. But the fact that Stella was able to walk back into that hospital today is largely because of Dr. Kramer and everyone in it. Something we also will never forget. Thank you!”
