  3. David Pierce, MD – Chief Physician Executive, Physician Enterprise
  4. Stephen Turkovich, MD – Chief Medical Officer, Oishei Children’s Hospital and Maternal & Child Health

In his new role, Dr. Hughes will focus on strategy and relationships, especially as Kaleida Health improves its population health footprint as well as pursues vertical integration opportunities with healthcare partners. He will continue to oversee Great Lakes Health Integrated Network, Optimum Physician Alliance and be the primary physician liaison with ECMC, UBMD as well as General Physician, PC (GPPC).

In his new role, Dr. Pierce will head up the physician enterprise for the organization. This will include service line growth across Kaleida Health as well as GPPC, UBMD and our various private practice physician groups.

In his new role, Dr. Mineo will head physician leadership and day-to-day medical affairs at Buffalo General Medical Center, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital as well as DeGraff Medical Park. Working with service line leaders, administration and nursing leadership, he will ensure the adult hospitals are operating efficiently, including things such as the operating rooms, length of stay, patient access, residency programs and more.

In his new role, Dr. Turkovich will continue to lead Oishei Children’s Hospital's day-to-day medical affairs and physician leaders, as well as its associated ambulatory enterprise to promote growth of service lines and, in particular, its relationship with physicians at UB and in the community. He will continue to be responsible for care delivery across the enterprise.

Dr. Hughes was named Kaleida Health’s executive vice president and chief medical officer (CMO) in June 2014. Prior to that, he was the organization’s senior vice president and chief clinical integration officer.

Dr. Pierce has served as CMO at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute since June 2019. Prior to that, he was the CMO at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital/DeGraff Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Mineo most recently served as the CMO at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital/DeGraff Medical Park. Prior to that, he was senior physician for UBMD Emergency Medicine Community Division and the Patient Safety and Quality Medical Officer for Suburban and DeGraff Hospitals.

Dr. Turkovich was named vice president and chief medical officer at Oishei Children's Hospital in July 2014. He previously served as quality and patient safety officer and the co-medical director of the newborn nursery.
