Flannery Named Vice President, Corporate Counsel

John M. Flannery, Esq., was named vice president, corporate counsel at Kaleida Health.
Flannery’s new role reflects his recently expanded responsibilities which include serving as legal counsel to the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and Kaleida Health Foundations, and providing corporate legal services to Upper Allegheny Health System, the Kaleida Health surgery centers, and many other Kaleida Health entities.
In addition, Flannery will continue to advise on a broad range of legal matters that affect the growth of the organization and the management and operations of system-wide departments such as Business Development, Finance and Supply Chain, as well as Campus Development. He serves as lead counsel in contract management and in forming corporations and businesses, and provides legal advice on business ownership, management structure and operations including mergers and acquisitions.
Flannery previously served as associate general counsel for Corporate Operations at Kaleida Health since 2016. Prior to joining Kaleida Health, Flannery served as director, Legal Contracting & Corporate Compliance at (Wilson) Greatbatch in Clarence. He has extensive experience in compliance program development and negotiating a wide variety of domestic and international transactions relating to corporate business operations and services, supply chain, information technology and intellectual property. He also served as associate general counsel and vice president at M&T Bank and senior associate at Hodgson Russ in Buffalo, NY. Earlier in his career, Flannery held roles as a banking consultant at Ernst & Young, associate at Pepper Hamilton, LLP, and attorney at Office of Thrift Supervision, all in Washington, DC.
Flannery received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland. He also studied international finance at the University of London Business School in London, England, and holds both a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of Leadership Buffalo’s Class of 2010. He and his wife, Gretchen, live in Orchard Park with their three children.
