Rhiannon Polakiewicz, Recent COVID-19 Patient, Expresses Gratitude to BGMC Staff

A day in the life of a healthcare provider can often be stressful and uncertain. It's important to reflect on grateful patient stories, as a way of knowing that the efforts of Kaleida Health employees are making a difference in our community. Rhiannon shares her recent experience at Buffalo General Medical Center (BGMC), after she was diagnosed with COVID-19.

"My experience at Buffalo General Medical Center was beyond amazing. This was the first time I was away from my husband and our two boys. The doctors and the nurses would update my husband every day about how I was doing. Not only did BGMC take care of me, but they took such kind and gentle care of the ones I love most!"

After an entire year, Rhiannon is working on getting back to work as a Buffalo Firefighter; she has been a Buffalo Firefighter for eleven years.

"I have so much to say to the BGMC staff. I would like to thank the entire team of people who saved me and got me back to my family. They never gave up on me."

Rhiannon has expressed her gratitude by donating to the Kaleida Health Foundation, which supports programs and healthcare providers across all Kaleida Health sites.
