Spaulding Appointed to New York State Council of Business Leaders in Support of Access to Justice

Released: 10/2/2020 3:15:25 PM

Alyson Spaulding, Esq., Kaleida Health’s general counsel, has been appointed to the New York State Council of Business Leaders in Support of Access to Justice.

The creation of a Business Council will provide New York State with a valuable voice and source of strategic advice in support of its efforts to improve access to civil justice. It will also enable the Judiciary and the business community to collaborate on important initiatives, such as educating policymakers and the business sector about the importance of supporting equal access to justice, fostering pro bono service by corporate counsel and partnering on specific projects designed to close the justice gap in low-income communities. The new Business Council for Access to Justice is being co-chaired by Eric F. Grossman, chief legal officer of Morgan Stanley, and Kimberley D. Harris, executive vice president & general counsel of NBCUniversal.

Spaulding has served as Kaleida Health’s general counsel since March 2015. Prior to that, she was associate general counsel, Corporate Risk Management, where she directed Kaleida Health’s risk management, emergency management and regulatory affairs functions, in addition to overseeing the commercial insurance portfolio and legal services related to professional and general liability.

As general counsel, Spaulding is responsible for providing primary legal counsel for Kaleida Health and its corporate affiliates. In addition, she oversees Risk Management, Emergency Management, Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance, and Research Management.

Spaulding has led Kaleida Health and Great Lakes Health through a number of affiliation agreements with local hospitals to enhance collaboration, streamline services and further expand access to quality care throughout Western New York and beyond.

Spaulding, who has been with Kaleida Health since its inception, obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester where she completed a double major, and her Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law, where she was a member of both the Law Review and Moot Court.
