DeGraff Hosts Little Free Pantry
DeGraff Memorial Hospital is proud to host the Little Free Pantry (LFP) program on its campus.
Sadly, we often hear of food security as a national issue, however in a recent needs assessment, it was identified as a concern for the residents of Niagara County. The pantry, donated by the Lumber City Church, sits near the hospital entrance to provide easy access to food any time, day or night.
Hospital staff will monitor the pantry and keep the pantry filled and maintained. Members of the community are welcome to access the food in the pantry 24/7 as needed to meet their needs. Community members may also help to stock the pantry. Take-home nutrition education materials will be made available at the pantry as well.
The national movement is aimed at using a grassroots approach of neighbors helping neighbors during difficult times. The goal for LFP in North Tonawanda is that there will be enough locations that anyone in need in NT would have a pantry within reasonable walking distance to get food for themselves and their family.
