Kaleida Health is accredited by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) GL Healthcare, an organization whose philosophy is to build a partnership of cooperation and instruction through highly collaborative annual accreditation surveys. Accreditation by DNV GL recognizes Kaleida Health’s continual commitment to provide the highest quality of care for patients.

DNV GL’s National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organization’s (NIAHO) standards integrate requirements for CMS with the internationally known ISO 9001 standard for formation and implementation of the Quality Management System. These standards ensure that all necessary steps are being taken to deliver safe and effective healthcare services to patients. NIAHO focuses not simply on auditing the hospital’s business processes, but on finding better ways to do things in every department.

Kaleida Health was the first healthcare organization in Western New York to pursue and achieve ISO 9001 Certification, which is recognized by businesses around the world as the benchmark for continual quality improvement. Innovative hospitals have started embracing ISO as a way to identify and focus on the most successful approaches to patient care, administrative and other critical aspects of running a modern hospital.
DNV GL Healthcare, Inc. was formed in 1864 and is based in Norway with corporate offices in Houston, TX and Cincinnati, OH. It received its authority from CMS in late September 2008 and is now conducting hospital surveys in the United States.
