Questions & Answers

We at Kaleida understand that your time is important and so to better serve your needs we have compiled a list of common questions and their answers.

Q:   Why should I pay for care when/if the Ministry of Health will pay?
A:   There are a variety of procedures that either cannot be found in Ontario or the wait time is simply too long. Kaleida Health's four hospitals provide an alternative so you can make your healthcare decision on your terms. It is not unlike the decision many of us make about elective cosmetic surgery, but in many cases there are more immediate improvements to your quality of life. So don't wait if you don't have to.
Q:   What procedures will the Ontario Ministry of Health cover? And how can I request coverage?
A:   The process to obtain coverage can be found on the Ontario Ministry of health’s webpage here.
Q:   How much will it all cost?
A:   To assist in a more timely response to this question we have created “care pathways” for common procedures and can accurately estimate a package price at the time of your initial call.
Q:   How long does it take to get an appointment with a specialist?
A:   Typically wait for a specialist is 7-10days.
Q:   How long does it take to have my surgical procedure done once I see a specialist?
A:   Wait time from date of your consultation is anywhere from 2-4weeks.
