Minimally Invasive Surgery

Surgery has changed dramatically in the last 20 years. The advancement of technology and equipment-like miniature cameras-have allowed surgeons to completely change the way they perform surgeries.

The use of minimally invasive surgery (sometimes called laparoscopic surgery) involves making a series of very small incisions in which a camera and instruments are placed so the surgeon can view and perform the procedure.

This type of surgery has fewer risks, less pain, and requires a shorter recovery period than the traditional “open” surgery, which utilizes a single, large incision.
