Mental Health & Chemical Dependency Services
Helping people with mental illness and addictions identify the tools and resources they need to achieve balance in spiritual, emotional, physical and intellectual health is the mission of the Behavioral Health & Psychiatry Program at Buffalo General Medical Center.
The program believes people can, and do, recover from mental illness and addictions when they are involved in shaping their own treatment plan. By giving them the chance to regain control of their lives, patients are able to focus on personal wellness, re-energize hope, and open the door to recovery.
Focus
Buffalo General Medical Center helps people with mental illness and addiction stay focused on healing by giving them compassionate, effective treatment and helping patients build a “roadmap” back to living a happy and productive life.
Wellness
Whether someone is dealing with a family crisis, stress at work, childhood behavior problems, substance abuse, depression, or a more serious and persistent mental disorder like schizophrenia, wellness is defined by the individual. Through these programs, patients discover what makes them feel most at peace and how they can use the tools and resources provided to maintain that state of well-being.
Hope
Facing challenges with optimism can make a profound difference in the outcome of that challenge. The Behavioral Health & Psychiatry Program at Buffalo General Medical Center can be the catalyst a patient needs in approaching life with hope and optimism, by developing a treatment plan that addresses the patient’s individual needs.
Recovery
Programs and services are designed to help patients focus on their strengths. Successful recovery is not found in a magical cure but a commitment to working hard at building healthy self-esteem, nurturing environments, and healthy relationships.
