Neuropsychological evaluations serve to quantify a variety of cognitive abilities including memory, IQ, language, spatial perception, attention, abstract reasoning and problem-solving abilities, academic abilities, personality, and ability to manage activities of daily living.
Dr. Santa Maria, a native of Western New York, earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Louisiana State University (LSU). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology through the Department of Neurology, SUNY at Buffalo.
He is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology through the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology/American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP/ABCN).
Neuropsychological evaluations are commonly requested for the purposes of:
- Diagnostic clarification
- Quantification of cognitive impairment due to neurological or psychiatric disease
- Determination of disability due to neurological or psychiatric disease
- Injury-related litigation
- Capacity, guardianship, and placement issues
