Neonatal Transport Team

The Neonatal Transport Team at Women & Children’s Hospital provides emergent ground or air transport of critically ill and premature newborns in need of immediate care delivered by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  This highly skilled and specialized team consists of neonatal nurse practitioners, registered respiratory therapists and neonatal physicians, when necessary.  All are available at a moment’s notice 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and represent the only team of its kind in Western New York.

Specially trained neonatal nurse practitioners are also on duty at Kaleida Health’s Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital 24/7, the only other Western New York site that maintains a service for delivery and extended care of sick newborns, supported by Neonatologists and a full-scope of pediatric sub-specialists.

Active for 25 years, the neonatal transport team provides transport service for all eight counties of Western New York.
