Kaleida Health Names Senior Vice President, Public Affairs and Development

Stephen D. McClellan, Ph.D. Buffalo, NY, June 26, 2002 - Stephen D. McClellan, Ph.D., has been named senior vice president for public affairs and development, at Kaleida Health, effective July 8.

Dr. McClellan has served as the chief public relations and development officer for two large integrated health care systems and three major institutions of higher education. Most recently, he has served as executive-in-residence and chair of the health care management program at Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio. Prior to joining Franklin, he served as vice president for public affairs and development at Catholic Medical Centers of Brooklyn and Queens. His scope of responsibilities included the full continuum of fund raising activities, marketing, communications, image amplification, special events, community outreach, media relations and governmental affairs.

"Dr. McClellan has a distinguished track record of developing resources through the practice of relationship building, and he has deep experience in the key area of effectively telling an organization's story," said William D. "His accomplishments include the implementation of strategies that enable an organization to speak with one voice to its many constituencies and the administration of major capital campaigns that exceed their goal on time and under budget."

In addition to Franklin University, Dr. McClellan has held academic appointments and served as a senior executive at The University of Texas (Austin), Florida State University and Ohio Northern University.

He earned his bachelor's degree in political science at The College of Wooster, his master's degree in counseling at Ohio University and his doctorate in the administration of higher education at Michigan State University. He also completed the Institute for Educational Management post-doctoral program at Harvard University.
