Kaleida Health to Offer Flu Shots to High Risk Groups 2000
BUFFALO, NY, Dec. 27 - Adults who have not had the opportunity to obtain a flu shot this winter, will have the chance to do so through the Kaleida Health VNA Flu Immunization Campaign on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at Kaleida Health's DeGraff Memorial Hospital, 445 Tremont St., North Tonawanda. Flu shots, at a cost of $10, will be given in the DeGraff Family Medicine Center, next to the lobby. Medicare will cover the cost of the vaccine for individuals with Part B coverage if they bring their Medicare card with them. Other insurance providers who cover the cost include Independent Health Encompass 65, Blue Cross & Blue Shield Senior Blue and Univera Senior Choice. "Full immunization or protection against influenza is achieved within two weeks of getting a flu shot, so there is still time to get the vaccination since there has been little to no incidence of reportable cases of influenza is in Western New York," explained Donna Sauer, R.N., Kaleida Health VNA Flu Immunization Campaign clinical coordinator.
