Multidisciplinary Course Focuses on Cardiovascular Disease

“Controversies in Endovascular Therapies,” sponsored by the Western New York Vascular Society in collaboration with the University at Buffalo and Kaleida Health Departments of Surgery, takes place Friday, Nov. 9 at the Sheraton Four Points, Buffalo Airport.

This multidisciplinary, one-day course is for vascular, cardiothoracic and general surgeons; internists; cardiologists; radiologists; family physicians; fellows and trainees in these disciplines; nurses, and allied health professionals. It will focus on issues related to the prevention, management and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

Topic will include advances in pharmacological, interventional and minimally invasive surgical treatment; the advantages and disadvantages of endovascular and open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm; controversies in endovascular and open surgical treatment of carotid artery disease, and techniques for endovascular treatment of mesenteric, renal and peripheral arterial occlusive disease.

Specialists from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York; Union Memorial Hospital/MedStar Health, Baltimore; Albany Medical Center, and the University of Rochester will join Program Director Maciej Dryski, M.D., Ph.D., and other UB and Kaleida physicians in making presentations throughout the day.
