Daughter of WCHOB Doctor Featured on "Jeopardy!"
Proud fathers are a daily sight at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, but Satyan Lakshminrusimha, MD, Chief of Neonatology, has a unique reason for his pride: his daughter appeared on the popular game show Jeopardy!.
Ananya Nrusimha tested her knowledge and luck in the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament on July 24. Adding to the excitement, Ananya’s national debut placed her in the local spotlight, as the Buffalo News wrote an entire feature story anticipating her Jeopardy! appearance.
Ananya, a rising junior who is very active at Williamsville East High School, watched the quiz show with her parents for years. She had to endure a long process to get on Alex Trebeck’s side of the screen, starting with a 50-question online test and then a screening in New York City before finally taping in Los Angeles. Ananya had made it to the second round twice before, but this time her efforts have paid off and her competition was seen by millions.
The quarter-final contest was tight, but “Final Jeopardy!” saw opponent Alan Koolik pull away from the competition, and Ananya’s second place performance was unfortunately not enough for her to advance to the next round.
Still, her participation in such an exclusive tournament is an incredible achievement for the young star. Congratulations Ananya!
