Heart to Heart Event on May 22

Kaleida Health’s HeartCaring program will sponsor a “Heart to Heart” community seminar and screening event on Thursday, May 22, 2014. The event, which focuses on how food affects heart health, will take place at 6 p.m. in the Ground Floor Conference Room at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

During the seminar, George Matthews, MD, will discuss the conditions of heart disease and vascular disease, and Kelly Cardamone, MS, RD, CDE, CDN, will talk about the impact of diet on vascular disease.

A question and answer session will follow the presentation. Attendees will also have the opportunity to have their blood pressure taken and a stroke risk assessment completed.

Dr. Matthews is a cardiologist in private practice at Buffalo Cardiology and Pulmonary Associates and serves as the president of the medical staff of Kaleida Health. Dr. Matthews is interested in the application of new developments in the field of cardiovascular disease and applying them to improve the health of individuals in our community.

Kelly Cardamone is a registered dietician at Kaleida Health and a certified diabetes educator with more than 15 years of experience in the health and wellness field. She holds degrees in exercise science, dietetics and adult education. She has her own private practice and presents community based lectures on various health and wellness topics.

Kaleida Health’s HeartCaring program provides education and outreach to improve detection and treatment of cardiovascular diseases for the women and families in our community.
