Free Prenatal Nutrition Classes at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo OB/GYN Centers

A series of prenatal nutrition classes free of charge and open to the public will be presented by a certified dietician and nutritionist from Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo at Elmwood OB/GYN, Lancaster OB/GYN, and McKinley OB/GYN.

The following is the schedule of prenatal nutrition classes at Elmwood OB/GYN, 239 Bryant St. in Buffalo:

Myth Busters on Thursday, February 13, 2014 - 3-4 p.m. will allow you to learn the truth about “eating for two” and to get the scoop on increased calorie needs and other food-based guidance.

Pregnancy Pounds on Thursday, March 13, 2014 - 3-4 p.m. will give you the facts on the importance of weight gain during pregnancy and how much weight you should gain for your pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI).

Combating the Darkside of Pregnancy on Thursday, April 10, 2014 - 3-4 p.m. will discuss how nutrition can help to prevent or relieve some common unpleasant side effects of pregnancy, including nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn and hyperemesis.

The following is the schedule of prenatal nutrition classes at Lancaster OB/GYN, in the TOPS-RehmPlaza, 6363 Transit Road in Lancaster:

Healthy Eating 101 on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 3-4 p.m. will present need to know information on basic nutrition, food groups, prenatal vitamins, etc.

Myth Busters on Thursday, February 27, 2014 - 3-4 p.m. will allow you to learn the truth about “eating for two” and to get the scoop on increased calorie needs and other food-based guidance.

“Prenatal nutrition is essential to ensure the appropriate healthy growth and development of the baby, as well as the health and well-being of the mother,” said Julie Lamping RD, CDN, who will be presenting these prenatal nutrition classes.  “Join us and other expecting moms for free monthly educational sessions on the need to know nutritional guidelines for a happy and health pregnancy.”
