Network of Neighborhood OB/GYN Centers by Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Expands
New OB/GYN Centers in Hamburg, Lancaster and Lockport Open This Week
The network of neighborhood OB/GYN Centers operated by Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo has expanded with three new locations opened this week in Hamburg, Lancaster and Lockport.
The Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo network of neighborhood OB/GYN centers includes the following new locations opened on September 30:

These new OB/GYN Centers expand the existing network that also includes the following locations:

“This network of OB/GYN centers is designed to improve access to Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, which offers women the best option for delivering their baby as the only hospital in Western New York with a team of pediatric surgeons and a full panel of pediatric medical subspecialists on site, including the region’s largest, most advanced and safest neonatal intensive care unit,” said Gil Michael Farkash, MD, FACOG, Kaleida Health chief of service for OB/GYN.
The Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo network of neighborhood OB/GYN centers each have a dedicated physician, nurse practitioner and other staff.
The Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo network of neighborhood OB/GYN centers each have a dedicated physician, nurse practitioner and other staff. These OB/GYN centers are the only in Western New York to provide a comprehensive range of health professionals and services on site that includes fetal monitoring and ultrasound examination.
These centers also have immediate access to childbirth education, lactation services, registered dieticians and genetic counseling and testing provided by Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

Centering Pregnancy, a model that coordinates prenatal care in facilitated groups of patients to provide patient and family centered healthcare for expectant parents, will also be made available for those receiving prenatal care throughout this network of neighborhood OB/GYN Centers.
The centering pregnancy model involves clinicians and other healthcare providers who are prepared and trained to provide care in a group setting that facilitates skill building and enhanced education as well as peer-to-peer networking and sharing to ensure success.
Groups are established by similar due dates. Centering sessions are comprised around three components of care, including assessment, education and support.
This evidenced based method of prenatal care has demonstrated a reduction in maternal and fetal mortality, reduces preterm birth, reduces child abuse and domestic violence while promoting the development of parenting skills, improving breastfeeding rates and overall satisfaction with prenatal care.
