VNA Selected to Purchase Livingston County Home Health Agency
The Livingston County Board of Supervisors approved the sale at their regularly scheduled meeting today.
“On behalf of our dedicated nurses and staff, the VNA is honored to be able to care for the residents of Livingston County, said Judy Baumgartner, president of the VNA. “We are proud that another municipality is calling upon our organization to serve their community’s home health needs. It is a great opportunity to expand the VNA’s quality of care.”
Livingston County is a rural county located southeast of Erie County. It includes the towns of Avon, Geneseo and Mt.Morris. In 2012, the Livingston County CHHA performed over 19,330 home visits.
Continued fiscal pressures, the state property tax cap and rising operational costs are forcing counties across New York State to divest themselves of their home health agencies and long term home health care programs.
In June of 2012, the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors selected the VNA to purchase its home health agency. In December 2011, the VNA purchased the Steuben County Public Health & Nursing CHHA and Long Term Home Health Care Program (LTHHCP).
The VNA is the largest home health agency in Western New York, serving more than 24,000 patients annually with more than 425,000 home visits. The agency is ranked among the top home health care agencies in the nation, according to data from Press Ganey and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Founded in 1885, the VNA was the first visiting nursing organization in America. Since then, they have become one of the oldest charities in the nation and remain the largest home health agency in the Western New York region.
The VNA offers a full range of services including pediatric and adult skilled nursing and therapies, chronic disease management, home infusion therapy, mental health care, obstetrical services, telehealth, personal care, as well as personal response systems.
