The Gates Vascular Institute/University at Buffalo Clinical Translational Research Center won Business First’s 10th annual Brick by Brick “Golden Brick Award” as the area’s most significant new project. In addition, the building was honored with the "Best Green Construction Award."

The Gates Vascular Institute has changed Buffalo's skyline and has quickly become an icon in the city. Owners, architects, construction managers, engineers and hundreds of contractors collaborated to design and build the $291 million state-of-the-art facility.

The awards event recognizes top real estate, construction and development in the Buffalo Niagara region. Previous Golden Brick winners include the Avant, the Darwin Martin House, the Robert H. Jackson Federal Courthouse and the Burchfield Penney Art Center.

Brick by Brick award winners were honored during a ceremony on June 10, 2013, and a full special section on the awards will appear in the June 14 edition of Business First.
