Kohl’s Department Stores in WNY Present $156,367 to Support Childhood Obesity Prevention Program at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo

Local Kohl's department stores through its Kohl's Cares for Kids program presented $156,367 to support childhood obesity prevention programs at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo on Monday, November 21 at 10 a.m.

The donation will allow Women & Children Hospital of Buffalo to reach out to the community through local day care centers, local Buffalo schools, health fairs and community events by providing educational materials for children and their families about healthy eating habits and the benefits of physical activity. In addition, Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo will collect pre- and post data in selected day care centers and implement more extensive education to these centers to measure the benefits of the program.

Led by Teresa Quattrin, MD, the Division of Endocrinology/Diabetes provides comprehensive care to infants, children, and young adults affected by diabetes or hormonal disorders. These include, but are not limited to, overweight, growth failure, thyroid and adrenal conditions, abnormal pubertal development, calcium metabolism disorders, and disorders of sexual differentiation.

Kolh's Cares for Kid's Program, provides education initiatives in communities nationwide. With over a decade of dedication and millions of dollars raised to support in injury prevention, immunization and nutrition programs to scholarships and cause merchandise to give kids a happier, healthier future. To date, the program has raised $560,998 for Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.
