Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital Established Pediatric Emergency Medicine Services Provided by Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo

The Emergency Department of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital has begun providing pediatric emergency services by specialized personnel from Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.

Opened as an option for community pediatricians to send their patients in need of after hours emergency services, a pediatric nurse practitioner from Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo’s Emergency Department is providing pediatric emergency care within two dedicated pediatric rooms in the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital Emergency Room seven days per week, from 3–11 p.m.

“The nurse practitioner providing this service has specialized pediatric training and the experience necessary to evaluate and provide emergency care for children,” said Scott Bouton, M.D., Chief, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.  “Pediatric patients seen will also have access to all the capabilities inherent to the state-of-the-art emergency department at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.”

The pediatric nurse practitioner from Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo immediately examines pediatric patients received in the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital Emergency Room, provides immediate care required and determines necessary follow up, including if the patient needs to be transported to Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo for further care.

Staffing a pediatric nurse practitioner from Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo in the Emergency Department of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital offers additional and specialized expertise in providing emergency care for children on site daily.

The pediatric nurse practitioner from Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo on staff in the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital Emergency Room has received specialized and advanced training and experience in providing emergency care for children, and has direct access to all the specialized pediatric and surgical services available at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo is the WNY Regional Pediatric Trauma Center, therefore all critically injured infants, children and adolescents throughout the eight counties of WNY are transported to Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo to receive emergency care.

Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, a Kaleida Health facility and teaching hospital for the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, is the regional center for comprehensive and state-of-the-art pediatric, neonatal, perinatal and obstetrical services in Western New York and beyond.
