Robert Warner Rehabilitation Center:
As was announced previously, Women & Children’s Hospital is seeking a new location for clinic and office space for patients and staff of the Department of Developmental Pediatrics & Rehabilitation, which provides care for patients within the Robert Warner Rehabilitation Center located at 936 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. The expectation is that the new location(s) for these services will be identified by the summer of 2006.
Effective Monday, February 6, 2006, the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy units will be relocated from the 936 Delaware Avenue location to the 7th Floor of Tanner Building at Women & Children’s Hospital at 219 Bryant Street. At this time, other services located at The Children’s Guild Building will remain and upcoming communications will notify of new locations for the other service units.
The expertise of the staff the state-of-the-art equipment currently delivering this care will be retained for the new location. Patients can expect see the same therapist at the Tanner 7 location. After February 6, 2006, patient therapy records will be available at the Tanner 7 Occupational and Physical Therapy Department. The telephone number is (716) 878-7470.
The relocation of this clinic and office space is necessary due to a decision by The Children’s Guild to change its model of funding by selling its ownership by 2007 of the Guild Building at 936 Delaware Ave. As a non-profit organization, The Children’s Guild has provided this building containing the Robert Warner Rehabilitation Center and other programs free of charge to Women & Children’s Hospital. The Children’s Guild will continue to provide funding support for these Women & Children’s Hospital programs and others throughout Western New York.
Women & Children’s Hospital is committed to continuing the services currently provided within the Robert Warner Rehabilitation Center and this change of location may provide an opportunity to improve care. For example, relocating developmental pediatric and rehabilitation services can help improve the quality and efficiency of care when in close proximity to the comprehensive range of other pediatric specialists on site at Women & Children’s Hospital.
Patient families receiving services at other units within the Robert Warner Rehabilitation Center will receive a notice within the next several months of where those services will be provided in the future. In the meantime, questions or concerns can be directed to Peter Herbst, Rehabilitation Manager, at (716) 888-1345, or Dorothy Taber-Gay, Administrative Assistant, at (716) 888-1346 or Melva Visher, Interim Director of Rehabilitation Services, at (716) 883-9487.
