VNA Selected to Purchase Wyoming County Home Health Agency
The Wyoming County Board of Supervisors approved the sale at their regularly scheduled meeting this week.
Wyoming County is a small rural county located east of Erie County. It includes the towns of Attica and Warsaw. In 2011, the Wyoming County Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) performed over 13,000 home visits.
“The VNA is excited to once again be able to expand its reach and quality of care, this time into Wyoming County,” said Judy Baumgartner, VNA president. “It is extremely gratifying to know that another municipality is calling upon our organization to serve their community’s home health needs. On behalf of our dedicated nurses and staff, we are honored to be able to care for the residents of Wyoming County.”
Continued fiscal pressures, the state property tax cap and rising operational costs are forcing counties across New York State to divest themselves of their home health agencies and long-term home healthcare programs.
In December 2011, the VNA purchased the Steuben County Public Health & Nursing Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) and Long Term Home Health Care Program (LTHHCP).
The VNA is the largest home health agency in Western New York, serving more than 24,000 patients annually with more than 375,000 home visits. The agency is ranked among the top home healthcare agencies in the nation, according to recently released data from Press Ganey. It is ranked among the top home healthcare agencies in the nation, according to recently released data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Founded in 1885, the VNA of Western New York was the first visiting nursing organization in America. Since then, they have become one of the oldest charities in the nation and remain the largest home health agency in the Western New York region.
The VNA, a Kaleida Health affiliate, provides services to residents in all eight Western New York counties including Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany and Wyoming.
