|7/22/2014||Luminosa Winterguard Give Away Teddy Bears at Women & Children’s Hospital|
On July 17, local winter guard ensemble Luminosa Winterguard distributed more than 100 teddy bears to patients at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Four members of the Guard visited children in their rooms to hand deliver the bears, many of which had handwritten cards attached to them. The event concluded with the generous donation of a check for $1200.

On July 8, 2014 The Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo held a Bicycle/Head Injury Prevention Education event at Ken-Ton Family Support Center. A group of 350 children and teenagers serviced by the center received free bicycle helmets and fittings, and witnessed an educational demonstration about the dangers of head injuries.

Kathryn D. Bass, MD, Medical Director of Trauma at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and Erie County Undersheriff Mark Wipperman urge the public to leave the fireworks to the pros this Fourth of July. The two partnered on July 3 to demonstrate the serious injuries caused by common fireworks such as M-80s and sparklers.

|6/27/2014||Pediatric Dermatology Adds Phototherapy to List of Services at WCHOB|
The Department of Pediatric Dermatology at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo recently expanded its list of available services to include Phototherapy, a state-of-the-art ultraviolet light therapy used to treat a variety of skin disorders. The department is already averaging 2-3 patients daily for the treatment.
