The Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation’s Mission

The Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation is a 501 (C) (3) tax exempt New York not-for profit corporation operated exclusively for charitable purposes for the Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. The Foundation was established in 1988 to centralized and coordinate the efforts of generating, soliciting and receiving donations, both in-kind and monetary, to benefit and enhance the specialized pediatric and women’s health services provided by The Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.

These efforts will be undertaken in the spirit of Martha Tenny Williams, who in a courageous move to bring abut specialized, safe, and sanitary pediatric medical and surgical care, purchased property at 219 Bryant Street in Buffalo, New York on September 6, 1892 to begin the areas first and only hospital dedicated exclusively to children.

The Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation is mindful and inspired by the legacy of Martha Tenny Williams who dedicated her life to facilitating the necessary expansion of the Women & Children’s Hospital, and to pave the way for future generations of women and children to benefit from its specialized care. The goals are to increase total net gifts to the Women & Children’s Hospital by targeting major individual, foundation, government and corporate donors; to raise awareness of the special needs of the Women & Children’s Hospital patients and the importance of offering the specialized services in Western New York; and to educate the Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation Directors, medical staff, employees and other associates internally and externally on the value of services provided by the Women & Children’s Hospital, including them in the overall effort  to benefit the Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
