Blood Donation

UNYTS LogoSince beginning collections in June 2007, UNYTS has already become the primary supplier of blood products for the entire Kaleida Health System. In keeping the operation community-based, UNYTS will decrease the cost of blood to area hospitals by as much as 15%. Outside of personnel, transfusion costs are among the highest regional hospitals face. As UNYTS’ Community Blood Service begins to supply more facilities, the total five-year savings to the region is projected at millions. This is a savings which will positively affect Kaleida Health’s operations- leading to improved patient care and better efficiency.

In an effort to make donating blood as convenient as possible, UNYTS’ Community Blood Service and Women & Children’s Hospital have teamed up to bring the opportunity to you.  Every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.  This partnership provides a great and easy way for donors to give back to our community and its patients, many of whom are right here at Women & Children’s Hospital. Whether you are visiting a patient, taking a work break, or just passing through, please consider giving the gift of life through blood donation with UNYTS. Help yourself pass the time by helping those in need receive a second chance at life.

In donating blood through UNYTS, you are making sure that your family, friends and neighbors have blood available when they need it. Our local hospitals need to maintain an adequate supply of blood for emergency situations and it is up to UNYTS’ Community Blood Service and the generosity of our donors to help provide safe levels of blood inventory. It is truly a worthy effort. UNYTS’ Community Blood Service is about empowering Western New Yorkers to take control of our own blood supply, helping local patients in need and helping local hospitals reduce costs.

You’ve been given the gift of life. Give it back.
