Lactation Department

With education and experience, the goal of the Lactation Department is to establish a positive breastfeeding relationship for mom, baby, and family.

The Lactation Department was established in 1990, as a response to the need for more breastfeeding education and support. The department employs registered nurses who are board certified lactation consultants.

The Lactation Department provides a collaborative team effort to support breastfeeding by

• Daily Mother-Baby consults
• Consults throughout the hospital for mothers in need of help or education as related to breastfeeding
• Educational Prenatal Breastfeeding classes both in the hospital and the community
