Imaging Services
Imaging Services provides diagnostic and interventional procedures for women and children onsite by board-certified radiologists with fellowships in pediatric radiology.
All imaging exams are read by pediatric trained radiologists. The Nuclear Medicine, CT and MRI departments are certified by the American College of Radiology and technologists are required to obtain certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Installation of advanced technology and facilities within Imaging Services has also contributed to a renewed focus on enhancing services to patient families and referring physicians. Imaging Services at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo also participates in "Imaging Gently" to ensure the lowest radiation dose for pediatric patients.
New equipment, including dual-headed gamma camera, two digital imaging rooms for orthopedics and one within Imaging Services, provide immediate availability of electronically transferred images. These recent installations follow the new 128-slice CT scan, MRI, ultrasound technology, new digital X-ray equipment in orthopedics and a nuclear medicine camera. This CT technology performs exams in seconds, increases diagnostic accuracy and improves patient comfort and safety.
The highly effective ceramic material and adaptive dose shield enables the lowest radiation dose in each scan. Unmatched image quality offers a more accurate image allowing physicians to see exams in greater detail than ever before.
Imaging Services of Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo has earned a renewed accreditation for its hospital-based Radiology Fellowship Program from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
The only ACGME accredited radiology training program in Western New York, this new 3-year accreditation enables Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo to continue recruiting and training pediatric radiology fellows from throughout the U.S.
