Infectious Diseases

The Division of Infectious Diseases at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo is part of UBMD Pediatrics and affiliated with the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. This Division consists of three pediatric infectious disease specialists, Howard Faden, MD, Mark Hicar, MD, PhD, and Shamim Islam, MD, DTM&H, who are available to help manage the complete spectrum of infectious diseases common to children of all ages.

Patients receive diagnosis and management of acute and chronic infectious diseases. The division works with Home Services to manage patients on home antibiotic therapy, and division members have particular expertise in respiratory infections, ear infections, fevers of unknown origin, MRSA skin infections and Lyme disease.
