Staff Development

Personal/Interpersonal
Organizational Development provides a number of staff development courses to support individual and team development. These courses are designed to assist employees in advancing their personal and professional knowledge, skills and behavior.

Workplace Essentials Training
The Workplace Essentials training program is available to all employees free of charge through a Workforce New York grant. This program is designed to help strengthen workplace skills in reading, writing, medical terminology, medical coding and computers. The Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education Program administers and teaches the courses.

Employee Assistance Program
The Kaleida Health Employee Assistance Program is a confidential service offered to employees and their immediate family members at no charge. Consultation and counseling are available to help employees with personal or work-related problems.


Kaleida Scholars Program

Kaleida Health offers several options in assisting our employees with the financial burden that comes along with formal education. Many scholarship opportunities are available in several health related fields for current employees, their family members, friends and the community at large. Most of these scholarships will require a two to four-year post-graduation work commitment upon the completion of the student’s new position orientation.


Other Training Opportunities

Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education
Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education Division offers an array of training courses geared toward adults who are looking to complete training for professional development. Courses include: GED, ESL, computer training and many more. Allied Health training includes Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Office Assistant programs.

WNY 1199SEIU Training and Upgrading Fund
1199SEIU Training and Upgrading Fund is an important benefit available to 1199SEIU members. This fund was established to provide members with free training in various areas. The 2009 schedule include training classes on Pre-LPN/College Prep.

WNY Workforce Development Center
The WNY Workforce Development Center offers a variety of educational programs to the community. Training courses are free and open to all Kaleida and non-Kaleida employees.
