GI Services
Colonoscopy has been proven to save lives by early detection and removal of polyps that, if left intact, may advance to cancer. Kaleida Health hospitals provide Canadian patients with fast access to a routine colonoscopy screening or colonoscopy diagnostic study (with or without pathology).
Who should have a colonoscopy?
- People between the ages of 50 and 80 years old
- People with a first-degree relative diagnosed with colon cancer should start the screening colonoscopy at age 40, or when they reach the age of being 10 years younger than when the first-degree relative was diagnosed with colon cancer
- Those who have multiple disease conditions
