Epilepsy Program for Adults

The Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Buffalo General Medical Center is committed to providing excellence in the care of patients with epilepsy. Epileptologists, nurse practitioners, nurses and other professionals work as a team to provide individualized care.

The University Neurology Long-Term Monitoring Unit is a video-EEG monitoring facility, which provides the latest comprehensive, customized treatment plans for individuals with epilepsy. Patients are videotaped while brain activity is monitored 24 hours a day on EEG.

The inpatient unit is staffed by neurologists, technicians, nurses and psychiatrists, all of whom specialize in epilepsy.

The Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo offers 24-hour monitoring for adult patients.

The University Neurology long-term monitoring unit features single rooms, each fully equipped with wheelchair accessible bathrooms and showers. Family members are encouraged to stay in the room overnight with patients.

A comfortable day room is available with EEG hook-ups and continuous video monitoring.
