Plan for Discharge
Your plan for discharge begins once the decision to have surgery has been made. A discharge to home or a rehabilitation facility will depend on several factors and this conversation must begin with a discussion with your physician. It is also important to know your insurance coverage provided.
Like any surgery it is important to have assistance at home as well as preparing your home for the additional equipment necessary for ambulation.
Your plan will be discussed on a daily basis with a multidisciplinary team; the goal is to keep you on track to discharge.
Each team member will know what your plan is and work to make the plan happen. Important to remember you are an important component to the discharge process. The effort you put into your care is what you will get out of your care.
